Designed to take 10mm 13mm and 16mm bar diameter woodturning tools e.g. Bowl or Spindle gouges, hollowing tools, even carbides.

While not a new idea it has been done for at least 10 years earliest implementation I have found was by a Canadian supplier, though apparently no longer producing them. This version was developed by a garden workshop wood turner and a garden workshop metal turner.

The material is Aluminium chosen for it’s light weight which hardly affects the overall balance, some of the early ones were steel requiring heavier handles to regain balance.

WHY?

Comfort:-
Custom, handles make a big difference to the tools that are in your hand all day long, how many of us are actually average?

Choice:-
2 different length handles with one tool can make it much easier to get the job done.

Sharpening:-
It is much easier to sharpen the tool out of the handle especially if it is a 14” + handle.

Style:-
They are your tools, you use them every day, why not treat yourself to some fancy timber to make a great looking handle?

Travel:-
If you take your tools off site, put the sharp end into the handle and have it sharp when you get where you are going.

On top of that you can buy cheaper unhandled tools, have multiple tools with one handle , have multiple handles with one tool.

They are designed to make it easy to make a handle for normal use a standard length 16mm and 20mm Forstner bit will get the job done, if you want to use it with double ended tools you can either use an extension on a forstner bit OR switch to a standard drill 1mm larger than the tool which is probably the best method as it allows handle strength without it needing to be too bulky.

PLEASE NOTE THIS LISTING IS FOR THE UNIT ONLY AND NOT A COMPLETE HANDLE
